Material and heat treatment quality, as well as gear machining accuracy, have significantly improved. The manufacturing accuracy of general-purpose cylindrical gears has increased from grade 8-9 in JB179-60 to grade 6 in GB10095-88, while the manufacturing accuracy of high-speed gears has stabilized at grade 4-5. After adopting hardened gear surfaces, some reducers have seen a significant reduction in size and weight, while substantially improving load-bearing capacity, service life, and transmission efficiency. This plays a significant role in energy conservation and enhancing the overall performance of the main unit.

China's domestically designed and manufactured high-speed gear reducers (increasers) have reached a power output of 42,000 kW and a gear circumferential speed exceeding 150 m/s. However, the technological level of most reducers in China is still not high, and older products cannot be immediately replaced. The coexistence of old and new products will take a considerable amount of time during this transition period.
